Bruins stay in contention for two-seed with a win over Magicians

The Austin Bruins have a two-point lead on home ice advantage with five regular season games to go after they picked up a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Magicians on the road Saturday.

The win keeps the Bruins (29-18-4-4 overall) two points ahead of the Minnesota Wilderness for second place in the NAHL Central Division.

Travis Kothenbeutel scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season in a three-goal third period for Austin to put the Magicians away and Alex Schilling stopped 18 of 19 shots in net.

Aberdeen has clinched first place in the NAHL Central and it will have the top seed in the divisional playoffs.

Austin will play at Janesville 7 p.m. on Friday and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
