Steven Ray Tapp, 68

Steven Ray Tapp (Tapper), 68, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at home.

Steven was born on Jan. 21, 1950, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Maynard and Jeanette (Williamson) Tapp. He grew up in the Brownsdale, Minnesota, area, graduated from Austin High School and attended vocational school.

On Dec. 31, 1992, he was united in marriage to Annette “Annie” (Keilen) Sabanish in Austin.

Steven worked at Hormel Foods and retired after working 26 years. Steven was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the VFW Club of Austin. He enjoyed camping, traveling, yard work, collector cars and motorcycles. He also enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and socializing with friends. Steven’s two favorite buddies were their cats, Scoottie and Gabby.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Tapp, Austin; son, Jamie (Danielle) Tapp, Myrtle, Minnesota; daughters, Stacy (Chris) Wisemore, Austin, Chrissy (Todd) Peters, Clarksville, Iowa, and Sherry (David ‘Redbeard’) Bracken, Austin; five grandchildren, Justin (special friend Samantha Lechner) Ellingson, Brianna (Josh) Farrell, Makenna, Kami and Brantley Tapp; five great-grandchildren, Emily Ellingson, Kaylee, Bryten, Macie and Greysen Farrell; and brother in-law, Jerry (Rose) Keilen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Diane Sabanish.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, with the celebration of life services following at 11:30 a.m. at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin. A luncheon will follow at the VFW Club, 300 Fourth Ave NE. A private interment will be at a later date.
