Richard Dean Hull, 78, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Austin, the son of Milo and Violet (Dufty) Hull. Richard was a 1957 graduate of Lyle High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962. On Sept. 7, 1963, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Novak in Rose Creek, Minnesota. The couple raised three children. Richard made his living as a computer systems analyst for various hospitals. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time in his garden, feeding his birds and riding his motorcycle. He was proud of his old pickup truck and spent his leisure time playing cards and bingo, watching game shows and having lunch with the boys. Richard loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grand daughter. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Hull of Austin; his sons, Douglas (Joann) Hull of Olathe, Kansas, and Dean (Kim) Hull of Marietta, Georgia; his daughter, Sheila (Randy) Pitzen of Adams, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Hull, Jacob Hull, Matthew Hull, Mackenzie Hull, Nicole Hose, Morgan Hose, Maxton Hull, and Miles Hull; great-granddaughter, Hannah; his sisters, Marilyn Kirchwehm and Marjorie Rueckert; brothers Larry and Roger Howard; and many other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Violet Hull and Carroll Howard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle, Minnesota, with military honors performed by American Legion Post 91. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Woodbury Cemetery Association. Worlein Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
