Dome baseball for kids sign-up set for March, starts play in April

Dome baseball for kids ages 7 to 12 begins in April with a deadline to sign up is March 23.

Students who are 7 to 9-years-old will play on Monday nights beginning April 2 through April 30 and those 10 to 12-years-old will play on Tuesday nights April 3 through May 1. Games times are between 6-8 p.m. Teams will consist of 10 to 12 players with a minimum of four teams per age division.  The cost for the pitching machine league is $60 per participant.  The program combines individual skill development with live game experience.

The Austin High School Dome will be offering some open times on the following dates: March 6 and 20, April 3 and 17. The cost is $2 per child and $5 per adult. During these same dates they will offer the use of the golf nets at $5 per player.

Online

We would like to invite you to set up your online account. This will allow you to register for Park & Recreation and Nature Center programs. Currently, you may sign up for the youth volleyball camp and archery. You will also be able to request facility rentals for your private events.

Hockey

Watch for information on the following hockey opportunities:

Austin Girls Hockey Camp will be held 6-7 p.m. on Monday evenings April 2 through May 7 for those in kindergarten through sixth grade.

The Stickin Around Jamboree Tournament for those ages 3 to 11 will be held on April 7. There will also be a 3-on-3 spring league for Mites, Squirts, PeeWee, 10U, 12U and Bantam players. Watch Facebook for more information!

Figure skating

The Riverside Figure Skating Club show will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March, at Riverside Arena. This marks their 44th annual ice show.This year’s theme is “Welcome to the Tasty Freeze”.  Tickets will be $10.

Ruby Rupner

If you are looking for a place to hold a special occasion (graduation, wedding, holiday or birthday party, conference, reunion, anniversary, prom dinner, or memorial), consider renting the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center’s Ruby Rupner Auditorium.

The fee for rental of the auditorium is $52 an hour (including rental and security) with a $100 down payment. There is an additional fee for the use of our projector and sound system ($25) and if food or beverages are being served ($20).

Warming houses

Open warming house hours are as follows:  Kaufman Park, Monday-Friday 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Galloway and Skinners sledding hills are open Friday 6-9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Patrons are allowed to use the skating rinks when warming houses are not open.

Pickleball

Pickleball open gym continues for Wednesday evenings through February at Ellis Middle School.  Pickleball nets will be in the auxiliary gym from 6:30-8 p.m.  The cost is $4 per person at the door.

Riverside Figure Skate Club: Sunday’s from 1 to 5 p.m.; Skate show on March 17 and 18.

Stick Time: 5-7 p.m. Feb. 27; 12:45-2:15 p.m. March 3.

Public Skate: 7-9 p.m., March 2; 2:30-4:30 p.m., March 3; 2:25-4:15 p.m., March 10.

Austin Bruins: 7:05 p.m., Saturday, hosting Minot.
