MINNEAPOLIS — Bellisio Foods, Inc. on Tuesday announced plans to close its operations in Austin, Minn. in early April 2018.
“Bellisio Foods will consolidate operations at other company-owned facilities in Ohio and California to improve efficiencies and better serve the company’s customers,” a news release from the company says.
Bellisio Foods, Inc. says the Austin facility currently co-manufactures frozen food products for retail, restaurant and foodservice companies.
Approximately 100 employees will be affected by the Austin plant closing. Employees were notified Tuesday and will be provided outplacement assistance and other support, the company says.
The facility will be offered for sale. Bellisio Foods purchased the plant in 2013 from Austin Packaging Co.
Headquartered in Minneapolis, Bellisio Foods produces more than 400 frozen food products, including single and multi-serve entrees, snacks, side dishes, and specialty sauces. Bellisio markets these products under its Michelina’s and SO RIGHT brands, as well as under licensed brands Boston Market, Chili’s, EatingWell, and Atkins. The company also co-manufactures private label, retail and foodservice products.
Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited, an agro-industrial and food conglomerate headquartered in Thailand, is Bellisio’s parent company. CP Foods announced in December 2016 it had completed the $1.075 billion acquisition of Bellisio.
