Mildred K. Christianson, 97, of Austin, Minnesota, died Jan. 5, 2018, at the Colony Rose Court in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Mildred K. (Benesh) Christianson was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Anton and Mary (Dunovsky) Benesh. Mildred was an only child and grew up on a farm in a Bohemian community near Myrtle, Minnesota. She attended Austin High School, graduating in 1938. On Aug. 22, 1946, she married Ivan Christianson of Austin at the Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. She was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was active in Circle, WELCA, and Sunday School. Mildred was employed by the Austin Public School as a secretary at Banfield School and enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Howard) Sorenson; son, Dennis (Julie) Christianson; three grandchildren, Trent, Jenna (Nick) Schultz, and Ellen (Joe) Orrock; and great-grandson, Lee. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ivan Christianson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Karen Behling officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Memorials can be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin or donor’s choice.
