The Hayfield boys basketball team suffered a heart-breaking loss when it fell to Goodhue (8-4 overall, 4-1 HVL) 50-48 in overtime on the road Tuesday.

Goodhue’s Sam Opshal banked in a game-tying three to tie the game at 45-45 in regulation and he hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 48-48 in overtime before sinking two free throws to win the game with 16 seconds left.

Hayfield (1-11 overall, 0-4 HVL) had trailed by 10 points in the second half.

“It stings to lose that way when you do everything right down the stretch,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said.
