Track and field: Southland’s Hovden picks Hawkeye Community College

Southland senior Emily Hovden has signed with the women’s track and field team at Hawkeye Community College.
Hovden is a back-to-back Minnesota Class A State Track and Field Meet qualifier in the 4 x 200 meter relay for a GMLOKS team that placed ninth in 2016 and third in 2017. She also ran on the 4 x 100-meter relay team that placed 12th at state last year.
Hovden has received All-Conference honors in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4 x 100-meter relay, 4 x 200-meter relay, and pole vault during her high school career. In addition to track and field, Hovden is involved in volleyball, student council, National Honor Society, and serves as the school’s blood drive coordinator.
Hovden is the daughter of Scott and Jessie Hovden and plans to enroll in the Nursing program at Hawkeye.
