After three years, the Science Fair Mentoring Project is going great guns at two of Austin’s elementary schools, according to adviser Catherine Haslog.

The project started as an after-school in the fall of 2014 at Neveln Elementary School with the help of Catherine Haslag, a Riverland Community College chemistry instructor. Since that time, 117 students have participated in the STEAM Expo, or Science Fair. This year, there are 41 students enrolled at Neveln.

The project began at Banfield in 2016 as an in-school program and assisted 12 students in the program last year; this year, there are 22 students enrolled.
