John “Bud” Joseph Minerich, 93

John “Bud” Joseph Minerich, age 93, of Austin, Minnesota, formerly of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Monday, Dec.18, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

John was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Anna (Basick) Minerich. He received his education in Cleveland at East High School and then went on to college at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Bud entered the United States Army in May 1943, serving until March of 1946. On Jan. 19, 1952, Bud was united in marriage to Irene Klebowski in Cleveland. The couple was married 60 years. Irene passed away in 2012. Together they raised four sons. Bud worked for the U.S. Post Office as a letter carrier for 21 years, retiring in 1984. John lived for several years in Ohio and Florida before coming to Austin to be near family. He was a member of the V.F.W. Bud enjoyed playing golf and spending time playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sons, William (Debra) Minerich of Akron, Ohio, Russell (Carol) Minerich of Lynchburg, Virginia, Phillip (Gail) Minerich of Austin, Allen (Cindy Struth) Minerich of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Gena Winkels, Ben Minerich, Carrie Minerich, Kevin Minerich, Mathew Minerich; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Samac of Mentor, Ohio, Joanne Evans of Mentor; one brother, Joseph Skoda of Keaau, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Thomas Minerich.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Deacon John Kluczny officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the Worlein Funeral Home, followed by a light lunch. Interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, at a later date.
