Hayfield powers past PEM 71-41

The Hayfield Vikings girls basketball team was able to put the clamp on some first-half defensive struggles to defeat Plainview-Elgin-Millville Saturday 71-41 during the HVL vs. Three Rivers Conference Showdown in Rochester Saturday.

Leading 38-21 at the half, the Vikings put the hammer down in the second half, taking away some easy shots that had plagued them in the first.

“The first half — both halves — we played great offensive, but defensively we gave up way to many easy looks,” co-head coach Kasey Krekling said. “We were able to shore that up.”

Hayfield moves to 6-1 and will play at Triton on Thursday.
