Myia Hoium is a forward for the Austin girls hockey team. She is in her sixth year with the Packer varsity team.
Q: What sports do you compete in?
A: I compete in hockey and soccer.
Q: How did you originally get into hockey?
A: I got into hockey because of my brother and dad.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A: My favorite sports memory is playing varsity my seventh grade year and always getting to know new people.
Q: What have you learned from sports?
A: Sports should be something you love doing. They push you to always do your best and it’s an opportunity to meet so many new people.
Q: What is the hardest part about hockey?
A: The hardest part about hockey is probably learning to skate with new people.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: My biggest sports role model is Amanda Kessel because she played for the Gophers and they are my favorite team. Her whole family and brothers are into hockey like mine are and she was one of their best players.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: My favorite movie is “Miracle,” which is based on the miracle on ice.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: My favorite subject in school is math.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: My dream job is a forensic scientist technician.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: My favorite food is spaghetti tacos.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My future plans after high school are to attend a university and play hockey. I’d like to major in criminology and minor in coaching.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?
A: I like to watch and play golf and i like country music.
Q: What are your top three pump songs before a big game?
A: “Yamborghini High,” “Bring Em Out” and “Plain Jane.”
Q: What are your top two guilty pleasure songs?
A: “What ifs” and “Perfect.”
