BP girls edged out by Maple River
The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team couldn’t hang on as they lost to Maple River (7-2 overall, 4-0 Gopher) 51-49 on the road Friday.
The Awesome Blossoms (6-2 overall, 4-1 Gopher) led for a majority of the game, but they weren’t able to close it out. BP did have a chance to take the lead back, but it had a game-winning shot rim out as time expired.
“Defensively we did a good job for much of the game, but down the stretch we struggled to keep their 6-1 post Payton Berkner and leading scorer Madi Schirmer off the glass,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “We gave up some big offensive rebounds that cost us in the end.”
Sam Wurst had 12 points and seven rebounds for BP.
