A month after returning the Twins to the playoffs and signing a three-year extension to remain with the team, St. Paul native Paul Molitor is one of three finalists for the American League Manager of the Year award.

The nomination, which comes from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, is Molitor’s second in just three years as an MLB skipper.

He was third in voting in 2015.

The winner of the award will be announced next Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The Cleveland Indians’ Terry Francona and the Houston Astros’ A.J. Hinch joined Molitor as finalists.
