The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team was able to close things out with the help of its three freshman starters as it beat Houston (0-1 overall, 0-1 SEC) 68-58 on the road Thursday.
Freshman Jed Nelson scored 14 of his career-high 20 points in the second half and he also added 13 rebounds and nine steals for the Athletics (1-0 overall, 1-0 SEC). Senior Trinity Anderson had 13 points, freshman Zach Bollingberg had 12 points and freshman Cole Walter had three points, eight rebounds and five assists.
“It’s an excellent way to start the year,” LP head coach Scott Koenigs said. “We took care of the ball in the second half and we attacked the basket more. Jed played extremely well in the second half.”
