A woman who allegedly assaulted another woman while intoxicated appeared Tuesday in Mower County District Court.
Robyn Kay Halverson, 61, of Mapleview was charged with felony domestic assault.
According to the complaint, police officers were called Oct. 26 to the intersection of Eighth Avenue Northwest and Fourth Street Northwest on an assault complaint. A woman there said she had been to Walmart with Halverson, who was intoxicated, and was driving around with her when Halverson started yelling and attacked her, according to the complaint. The woman said she had to pull over on Interstate 90 to defend herself.
An officer observed Halverson’s slurred speech and that she smelled strongly of alcohol. Her lip was bleeding, which she claimed was from the other woman hitting her. She said Halvorson fell in the Walmart parking lot.
The maximum penalty for felony domestic assault in Minnesota is five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. A review of Halverson’s criminal history shows prior convictions for domestic violence-related offenses.
Halverson will appear next on Nov. 13.
