DeVonna K. Culton, 93, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.
DeVonna was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Ord, Nebraska, to Charles and Estella (Kesler) Bilderback. Her family moved to North Dakota when she was young and later to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. She married George Culton on Aug. 12, 1944. DeVonna was a homemaker for most of her life but she worked for Ankeny’s Mini Mart (both numbers 4 & 1) where she later became manager.
DeVonna was a member of Christian Congregational Church of Hollandale where she taught Sunday school. She liked crocheting, knitting and making quilts and she enjoyed playing the game “four sixes” with family and friends. DeVonna was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George in 1998; brother, Charles “Neil” Bilderback; and infant brother, James Bilderback.
DeVonna is survived by her children, Joan Czech, Austin; Wayne Culton, Austin; Timothy Culton, Austin; grandson, Charlie (Christina) Durham, Austin; four great-grandsons, Logan Durham, Lucas Durham, Micah Durham, and Ezekiel Durham; sister-in-law, Tiny Bilderback; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Mark Goosen officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Care Center.
