Dennis W. Crowder, 75, of rural Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, Nov. 25, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.
Dennis Wesley Crowder was born Nov. 12, 1942, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Wesley Edward and Waunita Helen (Steinbarger) Crowder. He received his education in Austin, Minnesota. On Jan. 27, 1968, he was united in married to Julie Ahn Johnson in Mason City, Iowa. Dennis worked for Carney Auto Salvage for over 33 years, before working at Hormel Foods until 1985. He later worked for Southern Minnesota Sales in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, before becoming an independent dealer for used autos, working until his health forced him to quit. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Christopher and Kelsey, his great-grandniece and nephew, Josie and Jameson and his cousin Harry Hansen. He was a member of Moscow Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Crowder of rural Austin; one son, Timothy Crowder of Albert Lea, Minnesota; one daughter, Julayne Ashley of Austin; two grandchildren, Christopher Ashley and Kelsey Krebsbach; a brother, Rick (Trudy) Heimermann of Austin; a sister, Vicky (Roger) Christiansen of Austin; his mother-in-law, Hazel Johnson of Austin; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son in infancy.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Moscow Lutheran Church, rural Oakland, Minnesota, with Pastor Waldemar Gies officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will follow the service in Moscow Lutheran Church Cemetery.
