Children in Pacelli’s Shamrock Zone have demonstrated their commitment to spreading kindness this month, which is National Bullying Awareness Month.
For the fourth year in a row, students covered the sidewalks of their school grounds with positive words, phrases, quotes and images that speak of love, peace, hope and acceptance with the intention to bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most.
Staff urged everyone to think about how to handle bullying:
• Intervene. Stand up for what’s right.
• Talk to your children.
•But most of all, to be kind and teach kindness.
Bullying – in school, the workplace or online – can have lasting, lifetime implications. Sometimes all a person needs to hear is something uplifting and positive to get through a rough day, staff said.
In 2014, the movement touched 76 schools. In 2015, it reached 267 schools, and in 2016 over 200 more participated, according to a news release.
