GRAND MEADOW — When the Grand Meadow volleyball team needs a big point, it has two solid options to go to in sophomore hitter Riley Queensland and junior hitter Jordyn Glynn. After losing two straight matches to Spring Grove and Schaeffer Academy, the Superlarks went with their bread and butter and involved those two hitters as GM swept Glenville-Emmons (0-16 overall, 0-11 SEC) by scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25–9 in GM Thursday.

Queensland, a sophomore who has served as Glynn’s understudy, racked up 10 kills, and Glynn, a junior, who is a long-time veteran on the varsity team, hammered home seven kills against the Wolverines.

Queensland has learned some lessons by watching Glynn on the court over the past two seasons and this year Queensland is starting to catch up on the court.

“[Jordyn’s] just helped me grow as a player and she’s been a leader on the floor. She gets everyone to play their best and she’s a big asset for our team,” Queensland said. “[As a team] we need to keep digging and pushing to play at our best. We have to communicate.”

While Glynn has racked up plenty of kills for the Superlarks (16-7 overall, 8-3 SEC), she’s more than happy to share the spotlight with Queensland.

“Riley is doing an amazing job,” Glynn said. “She’s closing the blocks and she’s swinging incredibly well. I’m proud of her.”

GM head coach Tori Burmester has sped up the offense this season and senior setter Allie Lubahn, who had 17 set assists Tuesday, and junior hitter Kaitlyn Hilton have both teamed up to make GM a tough matchup.

“We have more than one option, we’re running a really fast offense and we’re making teams move this year,” Burmester said. “[Jordyn and Riley] are growing as the season goes on and they’ve just been getting better and better. They’re playing the ball more clean and they’re making better choices. We’re excited with what they’re doing in the last half of the season.”
