MINNEAPOLIS — The Austin boys soccer team had first half jubilation replaced with overtime heartbreak as it lost to Saint Thomas Academy 4-3 in the Minnesota Class A state semifinals in US Bank Stadium Monday.

After Austin took a 3-1 lead to halftime Cadets scored two goals in the second half to force overtime and St. Thomas won it when Logan Davis scored the game-winner with 5:24 left in the second overtime.

Austin jumped out in control in both overtime periods as it had several chances to win the game, but all of those shots came up empty.

“Today was their day,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “I felt like we had opportunities that were close and if they would’ve fell it would’ve just as likely been our day. I wouldn’t take anything away from our players.”
