Home court advantage; Vikings win home volleyball tournament

The Hayfield volleyball team won its home tournament after taking all four of its matches Saturday.

The Vikings (7-0 overall) started the day off without their senior players, who were busy taking their ACT test, but Hayfield’s younger players were able to get past LeRoy-Ostrander 25-15, 25-15. The rest of the day Hayfield had its full roster as it beat Dover-Eyota 25-7, 25-7, Alden-Conger 25-15, 25-11 and Pine Island 25-16, 25-15 in the the title game.

Maggie Streightiff racked up 25 kills, 41 set assists and 24 digs for Hayfield, Kate Kruger had 21 kills and Carrie Rutledge had 20 kills and 22 digs.

Blooming Prairie (7-5 overall) went 2-2 in the tournament as it beat Dover-Eyota 25-17, 25-20 in its last match of the day. Lyle-Pacelli (4-4 overall) went 1-3 winning its final match 27-25, 25-19 against LeRoy-Ostrander (2-6 overall), which went 0-4 on the day.
