It was August 2002 when area residents got a first look at the new 64-unit independent and assisted-living retirement community that was opening in a few weeks in southwest Austin. It was the eighth facility opened for South Dakota-based Primrose.
Austin’s Primrose Retirement Community on Thursday celebrated the 15 years that have passed since its opening.
Thursday’s festivities included a car show, grill out, tours, vendors, games, a bounce house and raffle giveaways.
Today, Primrose has locations in 16 states. It has three locations in Minnesota: Austin, Mankato and Duluth.
Jim Thares, Primrose founder, is quoted on the company website saying that the objective of each Primrose community is “to provide a comfortable, convenient, secure and enjoyable environment for seniors.”
“We are in this business,” he said, “to help seniors enjoy a healthy, happy lifestyle.”
