One injured in Tuesday car accident

One person was transported to the hospital after a car accident  Tuesday morning in Austin.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to an accident call at 7:46 a.m. at the intersection of Fifth Place Southeast and 10th Drive Southeast.

A 28-year-old woman was driving a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van westbound on Fifth Place Southeast when she stopped at a stop sign. She saw a vehicle pass and attempted to pull out when she was struck by a Hyundai SUV, driven by a 16-year-old girl, going northbound on 10th Drive Southeast.

The Hyundai had two passengers. One, a 16-year-old boy, complained of back pain and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System by Gold Cross Ambulance.

The Hyundai was towed away, while the Chrysler was able to drive away.
