Marjorie R. Trihus, 73, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family.

Marjorie Rachel was born March 6, 1944, in Hibbing, Minnesota, the daughter of Emmett and Marjorie (Gelling) Swanson. Marjorie graduated from Hibbing High School, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in home economics from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

On Nov. 27, 1971, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen Trihus at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Marjorie worked for the University of Minnesota Extension Service prior to becoming a devoted farm wife, mother and grandmother. Over the years she enjoyed volunteering at her church and with 4-H activities. Her “happy place” was with family at livestock and cattle shows. Marjorie was a longtime member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her two sons, John (Wendy Cadwell) Trihus, and Brian (Emily Nelson) Trihus, all of Blooming Prairie; her daughter, Rachel Trihus of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Tyler Trihus, Cassandra and Ruth Jones, and Creighton Cadwell; brother, Emmett “Art” (Cathi) Swanson of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Kenneth on March 25, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 30456 Mower Freeborn Road, Austin, with Pastor Lindsay Stolen officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning, at the church.
