Pickup hits man, 74, at Fourth and Oakland

A 74-year-old Austin man suffered scrapes and abrasions Tuesday after being struck by a pick-up truck while crossing Fourth Street Northwest.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, the accident occurred at 3:56 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth Street Northwest and West Oakland Avenue.
The victim was walking westbound along the south sidewalk of Oakland Avenue when he stopped at Fourth Street Northwest. The man crossed on the “walk” signal and was struck in the crosswalk by a pick-up truck turning left onto Oakland Avenue.
The victim declined treatment by Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
A witness confirmed the victim’s story.
The driver of the pick-up truck, a 52-year-old Austin man, was not issued a citation at the time of the incident.
