Letter: River Rats Car Club thanks Austin community

The River Rats Car Club of Austin is grateful to the community for helping make this year’s car show such a success! On Aug. 19, people from all over the area joined in on the festivities to raise money to support the amazing men and women who have served our country. Keeping with the event theme, this year’s trophies were Army figures and 60 were handed out. Next year’s trophies will have a Navy theme, followed by the other branches of the military in subsequent years. For the third year in a row, this family friendly event not only brought in unique cars and motorcycles, but food vendors, craft vendors, an abundance of silent auction items and a wide variety of games and events for the whole family. One of the  highlights of  this year’s event was a magic show put on by Adam Perry.

We would like to thank the many sponsors and donors that made this event possible. Special thanks go to Austin Park and Rec, Y-Waste Removal, Austin Power and Equipment, Al and Barb McAlister, Scott Fuller, Adam Perry, Windrift Lounge and Power 96.

The River Rats Car Club would like to thank our veterans. We will continue to host this event in gratitude for your service. Please mark your calendars for next year’s event- Aug.18, 2018. We look forward to seeing you there!
