Dorothy Marie Rose Stromme, 87

Dorothy Marie Rose Stromme, 87, of Red Wing, Minnesota, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at her home at Loving Residence in Red Wing.

She was born on March 10, 1930, in Belle Creek Township, Goodhue County to Herbert and Mathilda (Banitt) Hadler. She graduated from Goodhue High School. On June 1, 1950, Dorothy married Donald Stromme.  The couple moved to Austin, Minnesota, in 1969, where she worked for the Boy’s Ranch. They moved back to Red Wing in 1989, and Dorothy worked at the Republican Eagle until her retirement. Donald died on Oct. 28, 2002. She  was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Goodhue County Horticulture Society.  She found great enjoyment in gardening and painting.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jay (Sharon) Stromme of Casco, Wisconsin; three stepgrandchildren, Tim Nihart, Mike Nihart, and Michelle Hendrickson; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Harvey Hadler.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Pastor Greg Bolt officiating.
