An Austin High School football player remains hospitalized following what school officials describe as a medical emergency Tuesday at Wescott Field in Austin.

Chris Fischer, 14

Chris Fischer, 14, collapsed during a practice and was transported to Saint Marys Hospital – Rochester campus. He is in the pediatric intensive care unit, where he is stable and sedated, according to his family through a CaringBridge site.

According to Austin Superintendent of Schools Dave Krenz, employees “responded to the medical needs of the student and called 911.”
