A woman charged with felony theft by check in Mower County will not be extradited to Iowa.

Jenny Guadalupe Gutierrez, 22, of St. Paul was charged in Polk County, Iowa, with third-degree theft by check in sum of more than $1,000, an aggravated misdemeanor.

On Monday in Mower County District Court, extradition was waived, a charge of felony fugitive from justice from another state was dropped, and Gutierrez pleaded not guilty to felony theft by check.

Gutierrez was charged with the felony after allegedly writing worthless checks to at least five area businesses dating back to April 17. She has prior convictions for crimes involving checks.

Gutierrez is scheduled for a pre-trial on Dec. 1.
