Austin man now facing 6 felonies

An Austin man who is facing five felony charges, including attempted murder, received another felony charge on Wednesday.

Kuoviy Kwot Omot, 21
Kuoviy Kwot Omot, 21, was charged with felony possession of firearm ammunition by a person convicted or adjudicated delinquent of a crime of violence in Mower County District Court.
According to the court report, police executed a search warrant on a blue BMW sedan registered to Omot in March.
Police found and seized a full box of nine millimeter Luger ammunition.
Omot was arrested for allegedly shooting another man in the leg during a Jan. 27 drug deal at Western Manor. He was initially charged with felony possession of a firearm by a person convicted or adjudicated delinquent of a crime of violence, felony attempted aggravated robbery while in possession of a deadly weapon and felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm.
Two additional charges, felony first-degree attempted murder with intent while committing a felony and felony second-degree attempted murder with intent-not premeditated, were added in May.
Omot pleaded not guilty to all five charges.
Omot is scheduled to go to trial for those charges in October.
