A Rush City man is headed to prison for robbing a woman in September.

Morgan Dwayne Pratt, 23, was sentenced to three years and two months in prison for felony simple robbery in Mower County District Court on Friday. Two other charges, felony aggravated robbery and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault, were dismissed.

Pratt then rushed the victim, pushed her over and tried to grab her bag, which ripped in the ensuing struggle. Pratt stole her cell phone, phone charger, Minnesota ID and $400 in cash. The victim stated she scraped her knee and scratched her arm when she fell. She also said Pratt punched her in the face.

Several bar patrons were able to identify Pratt and an eye witness told police he saw Pratt following the victim and heard her tell him she wanted to go home alone. Video surveillance from the bar showed Pratt sitting next to the victim and rummaging through her purse when she got up to go to the restroom.

Aside from prison time, Pratt must also pay $85 in fees. He received credit for 298 days served.
