One injured, one arrested after Saturday morning shooting

One person was shot in the leg and police uncovered an estimated $20,000 worth of methamphetamine on Saturday.

Now, Austin police are looking for information that could help with an investigation into the incident on Second Avenue Southwest.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a call of shots fired at the 800 block of Second Avenue Southwest at 12:58 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, they found a victim who had been shot in the left leg. The victim was uncooperative with the police.

Officers executed search warrants for two residences in the 800 block. In one residence, they found 296.5 grams of methamphetamine, worth an estimated street value of $20,000. The shooting victim, who Krueger declined to identify, allegedly said the meth was his.

Police found evidence of two weapons being discharged: 9-millimeter bullet casings and shotgun shells. While executing the second search warrant, police found a shotgun with ammunition matching the shells found at the scene.

Nicholas Ammesmaki, 22, of Austin was present at the residence and was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Police also executed a search warrant on a vehicle towed from the scene.

The shooting victim is under armed guard at an undisclosed medical care location.
