David Allen Steinhorst, 58, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Hospitals – St. Marys Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

David was born May 23, 1959, in Spring Valley, Minnesota, to Richard and Darlene (Richardson) Steinhorst. In 1979, he graduated from Grand Meadow High School where he was proud of his wrestling accomplishments. After high school, he attended two years at the Austin VoTech for carpentry. He worked for the Austin Public Schools for nearly 20 years.

David enjoyed drinking coffee with his “coffee club” and playing pool with the “guys” at the Mower County Senior Center. He liked to go camping and pontooning, but most of all, he loved his grandchildren.

David is survived by his daughters, Lacey (Joe) Morse, Elkton, Minnesota and Amanda Steinhorst, Austin; grandchildren, Alex Morse and Allen Steinhorst; parents, Richard and Darlene Steinhorst, Grand Meadow, Minnesota; sister, Gloria (Peter) Hovda, Grand Meadow; brothers, Dennis (Penny) Steinhorst, Chatfield, Minnesota and Brian (Julie) Steinhorst, Owatonna, Minnesota; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Isaiah Steinhorst, and by his grandparents.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 28, at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour before the service.
