The CMG Austin All-Stars ended their season play with a fourth place finish in the 40-team MBT State tourney recently.

After going 2-1 in pool play, the Stars beat Woodbury 6-3 and it beat Rosemount 2-1. Cody Williams scored the winning run in the ninth for the Stars after Chi Schneider put the ball in play.

The Stars then beat Minneapolis 7-5, then Austin lost to Byron 5-2 and fell to Wayzata 5-3.

“Playing eight games and that extra inning game, was tough on our pitching staff,” said coach Dan Ransom.

Micah Swanson, Jake Truckenmiller, Camden Gilles, Cody Williams, Chi Schneider, Conner Munson and River Graff led the hitting. Gilles, Mac Nelson, Peyton Ransom, Nick Robertson and Jared Lillemon pitched.

“We had an excellent season, and I was pleased with the way we improved over the summer” said Ransom.

This weekend the All Star Season will end with the 13’s in state MSF in Marshall and Local 9, 11 year olds in Mankato for state MSF.

Tryouts for the Summer of 2018 will be held Aug. 27-28 at Todd Park.
