Police are again reminding citizens to lock their vehicle doors after two vehicles were damaged by firecrackers over the weekend.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a property damage call at the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue Northeast at 6:43 p.m. Sunday.
Two victims reported fire damage in their vehicles, which were unlocked and parked in a driveway. It appeared the damage had been done after an unknown person or persons placed lit firecrackers into the vehicles.
The first vehicle, a Dodge Ram pick-up truck, had damage inside the center console. The second vehicle, a Nissan Sentra, had fire damage on the driver’s seat. The fires burned themselves out.
Police currently have no suspects. The value of the damage is unknown.
