Fuhrman Real Estate has been selling homes in Austin since 1980.

Now, the business will continue under the banner of RE/MAX Results. The announcement of the merger was made May 24.

“RE/MAX Results is a company with many talented and knowledgeable agents and we are looking forward to bringing our expertise to this already prestigious firm,” said Fuhrman Real Estate founder Joe Fuhrman. “Additionally, because the RE/MAX Results brand is widely known throughout the state of Minnesota, this new partnership will give us access to a larger network of agents and will provide us more tools to continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients here in Austin.”

Fuhrman said the merger has been in planning since early 2017. He cited his years as the reason for the merger.

“I’ve been doing this a long time and I wanted to make sure it would continue,” he said. “It’s a good business and I didn’t want to close up.”

It is a sentiment shared by RE/MAX Results owner John Collopy.

“Joe has built an incredible company with his leadership, direction, and integrity and we are pleased about the opportunity to connect with a great team of agents,” he said.

Fuhrman, located at 109 First Ave. SE, near the Austin Post Office, has sold on average 175 houses per year, selling as many as 200 homes during some years.

Fuhrman Real Estate is the fourth acquisition for RE/MAX Results this year. All of the property under Fuhrman Real Estate will be transferred to RE/MAX Results.

Fuhrman said that his team of six associates and an office manager would be joining RE/MAX Results.

“I wanted to make sure my associates had somewhere to go,” he said.

Fuhrman also plans to continue working for the time being.

“I promised that I would stay and help as much as I can and sell a few houses along the way,” he said. “It will be in a diminished role, but I plan to keep working and ensure a smooth transition.”

The associates of Fuhrman Real Estate will be relocating to the Austin RE/MAX Results office at 1419 First Ave. SW, near the Sterling Shopping Center. Fuhrman said that they will make the physical move by the end of June.

RE/MAX Results has 37 offices throughout Minnesota and in parts in Western Wisconsin. It is the largest RE/MAX franchise in the world.
