The Austin City Council will review and vote on publication of a proposed ordinance that would permanently ban the feeding of deer and geese within city limits at its upcoming meeting on June 19.
Mower County is under a temporary deer-feeding ban from the Department of Natural Resources in response to an outbreak of chronic wasting disease among deer in neighboring Fillmore County.
The council will proclaim June 19 as “The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota Day” in recognition of the institute’s 75th anniversary. It will also proclaim June 21 as “The Longest Day” in recognition of Alzheimer’s disease awareness.
The council meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 19 in the council chambers in the basement of City Hall. There will be no work session following the meeting.
