The Blooming Prairie boys golf team clinched its second straight trip to the Minnesota Class A state meet when it won the Section 1A meet in Rochester Monday.
The Awesome Blossoms finished with a team score of 339 on Monday and their two-day total score of 681 was 43 strokes better than second place Fillmore Central.
“I am extremely proud of our boys team,” BP co-head coach Cory Hendrickson said. “It’s hard to repeat in anything and they really worked to get back to the state tournament. They are kids who love golf and enjoy the effort involved in getting better.”
BP senior Tommy Braaten earned his third trip to state and he won the Section 1A meet for a second straight year and Lucas Noble took fifth individually.
Taylor Christianson earned her fourth straight trip to the Class A girls meet when she shot an 89 on Monday for a two-day score of 184. Jessica Ressler shot a 103 on Monday for a two-day total of 199 and she just missed advancing to state.
“Tommy Braaten was so impressive today,” Hendrickson said. “He strikes the ball so well, he is mentally strong and he keeps a very even temperament. He deserves all the success he receives. Taylor Christianson didn’t play as well as she would have liked but she will definitely be a threat next week at the state meet. She is another kid who has put in time and is very deserving of success.”
BP will compete at the Class A meet in Becker June 13 and 14.
BP boys scores: Tommy Braaten 75 (149); Lucas Noble, 85 (166); Jake Ressler, 84 (174); Collin Alwes, 96 (192); Austin Behne, 98; Colin Jordison, 99
