Austin Post 1216 baseball team takes second in Blaine tournament

The Austin Post 1216 VFW baseball team took second place in the Blaine tournament over the weekend as the team won four out of five games.
Austin beat Rogers twice by scores of 7-6 and 9-2 and it topped Blaine 3-1 in bracket play. It beat defending VFW state champions Centennial 3-0 in the semifinals and Austin lost 3-1 to East Ridge in the title game.
“This was a very competitive tournament and our ballplayers were up for the
challenge,” Austin head coach Joe Ciola said. “It was a total team effort with strong pitching, solid defense and timely hitting throughout our line up which allowed us to go four and one over the weekend.”
