PROPERTY APPRAISER TRAINEE

Starting wage is $19.69 – $21.85 per hour dependent upon education and experience (full-time, union position).

The Property Appraiser Trainee, under the direct supervision of a certified Property Appraiser, is responsible for providing County taxpayers with equitable and fair estimation of property values, desirability and utility. Duties include: estimating market value of all classes of property, real, personal and exempt, for tax purposes; providing information to public; and, monitoring and updating the Mass Appraisal System information. Requires an Associate’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or related field and a minimum of one year of experience in public relations, mathematics or computers and/or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties of the job.

Desirable Knowledge:
• State property tax laws and classification system;
• Appraisal techniques, procedures and equipment;
• Local zoning and building codes
• Basic construction knowledge.

Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and become a Certified Minnesota Assessor within three years of hire.
