A Grand Meadow couple pleaded guilty Friday in Mower County District Court to gross misdemeanor charges for receiving $9,273 in overpayments in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Todd Marcus Wright, 33, and Samantha Jo Wright, 32, each agreed to plead guilty as part of a plea agreement to gross misdemeanors for wrongfully obtaining assistance. They’d both originally been charged with felonies.
On Aug. 11, 2016, the Grand Meadow police responded to a domestic disturbance, and then Mower County Health and Human Services contacted a detective with the Mower County Sheriff’s office.
The incident stems from whether the Wrights were separated and lived together and whether the two were eligible for the SNAP benefits.
