On April 4, the Austin Salvation Army and Common Good Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Administrator Michael Maas hosted a gathering to recognize Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service.

Mayor Tom Stiehm and the Salvation Army volunteers who are also enrolled with RSVP.  Michael Maas along with Stacy Wisemore, Salvation Army volunteer coordinator, recognized and thanked all of the volunteers for making time to give back to our community.

The Austin group joined with similar groups across the nation to thank the town’s mayor and the volunteers who participate in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Maas pointed out more than 4,500 volunteer hours were performed in Mower County through RSVP in the last 12 months.  Of those, just under 2,000 were performed by the seven Austin Salvation Army Volunteers who are enrolled with RSVP.
