Austin High School’s graphic arts, SkillsUSA and robotics groups teamed up with the Masonic Lodge’s Pancake Fundraiser on Feb. 4 at the Masonic Lodge in Austin to help support the group’s needs. Members of the lodge furnished the supplies, equipment and worked with the students and AHS advisors Craig Knippel, graphics/SkillsUSA and Stephen Zaffke, robotics advisor). A total of $725 was raised, and this amount was matched by Minnesota Masonic Charities, bringing the total to $1,450. In addition to the pancake fundraiser, the graphic arts class screen printed wooden paint sticks to help advertise future fundraisers. In 2001, AHS Graphics also printed wooden paint sticks for Larry Hanson’s preparation of taking the office of Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of Minnesota. Pancake fundraisers are held the first Saturday each month.
