State swimming: Packers will compete in four consolation finals Saturday

The Austin swimmers didn’t send anyone to the finals at the Minnesota Class A state swimming preliminaries in the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Friday, but they will advanced plenty of athletes to Saturday’s consolation finals.

Along with diver Riley Norton, who has advanced to the finals in his event, the Packers will be competing in four consolation finals Saturday.

Austin’s Isaac Christopherson advanced to the consolation finals in the 200-yard freestyle, Mitch Mayer advanced to the consolation finals in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Rafe Dolan Peterson, Mitch Mayer, Ethan Thompson and Christopherson advanced to the consolation finals.
