Naomi J. Goodsell, 87

Naomi J. Goodsell, 87, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, died Thursday March 2, 2017, at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center.

Naomi was born April 11, 1929, in Pleasant Valley Township, Mower County, to Harvey and Helen (Palmer) Durhman. She attended and graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1947 and was united in marriage to R. Parker Goodsell on Oct. 24, 1948, at Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. Naomi and Parker lived on their farm until 1993 when they moved into Grand Meadow. Parker passed away in 1997.

Naomi worked as a cook for the Grand Meadow School for 27 years. Many of those years she served as head cook. She retired in 1991. She was a longtime member of the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid and WELCA. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, traveling, and playing cribbage. Naomi loved spending time with her family and friends.

Naomi is survived by her son, Craig (Sue Kolling) Goodsell of Spring Valley, Minnesota; daughter, Terri (Randy) Gilbert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Jamie, Cory (Alicia), Jessica (Jerome), and Chris (Chelsea); great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alexis, Sydney, Felicity, Phineus and Elaina; brother, Darwyn (Annette) Durhman of Rochester, Minnesota; sister, Bonnie Mickelson of Rochester; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother-in-law, Clinton Mickelson; brother and sister-in-law Gorden and Winifred Peterson; granddaughter, Heather Low; and niece, Suzanne Hedstrom.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with the Rev. Beth Krolak officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday March 5, 2017, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Grand Meadow Lutheran Church or to Seasons Hospice.
