Hubert Jertson, 84

Hubert Jertson, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Our House Assisted Living, Austin.

Hubert was born May 9, 1932, in Lanesboro, Minnesota, to Edwin and Cora (Hildestad) Jertson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in the Lanesboro area.  He graduated from Harmony High School. Hubert married Beverly (Hovey) Jertson; they later divorced. Hubert farmed for a short time and also owned and operated a feed store and a shoe repair shop in Spring Valley. He also was on the City Council and was the past mayor of Spring Valley. After suffering a stroke, he entered a nursing home in Austin and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Hubert is survived by his three children, Tenny (Debra) Jertson of Vinton, Iowa, Renee (Ron) Hyland of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Corey Jertson of Elkton, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Krista, Kam, Kasi (Tommy), Amanda (Peter), Erik (Sarah), Nathan and Michael; four great-grandchildren Caden, Dayla, Jillian and Oliver; ex-wife, Beverly; and sister, Janell (Dale) Himmer of Elgin, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Cora Jertson; brothers, Perlam, LuVerne and Edd; two children, Terry (died in infancy) and Barry.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dale Christianson officiating. Interment will follow in Saetersdal Cemetery, rural Harmony. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at Worlein Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
