Scholarships for women available

Applications for the 2017 Non-Traditional College Student Scholarship applications are now available from the Zonta Club of Austin by contacting: Mary Jo Follmuth either by email at austinmnzonta@hotmail.com or phone 507-433-5536 (evening) or 507-437-8773 (daytime).

The scholarship is given to women who have been out of school for a minimum of five years and continuing her post-secondary education. The applicant must be a resident of Mower County or attending Riverland Community College.

Applications are due by Feb. 17 to the Zonta Club of Austin, 1411 First Ave. SW, Austin MN 55912.

Zonta is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. This scholarship is one of many programs for women and girls sponsored by Zonta Club of Austin.

Young Women in Public Affairs Award

Applications for the 2017 Young Women in Public Affairs Award are now available from the Zonta Club of Austin by contacting Mary Jo Follmuth, either by email at austinmnzonta@hotmail.com or phone 507-433-5536 (evening) or 507-437-8773 (daytime).

The goal of the YWPA Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their lives, their commitment to the communities in which they live, and the role models that have inspired them to become involved in their community or in a specific prospective career. The program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are due by Feb. 17 to the Zonta Club of Austin, 1411 First Ave. SW, Austin MN 55912. Applicants must be pre-university or pre-college students, ages 16-20.

Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is one of many programs for women and girls sponsored by Zonta International. The award is funded by voluntary contributions to the Zonta International Foundation.
