Packer boys hockey team falls to Mankato West

The Austin boys hockey team struck first, but it couldn’t keep up the momentum as it lost 6-1 to Mankato West (12-7-1 overall, 9-2-1 Big Nine) in Riverside Arena Thursday.

Kory Potach scored early in the game on assists from Isaac Arnold and Bradyen Merritt for the Packers (10-11 overall, 6-9 Big Nine).

The Scarlets scored two straight power play goals in the second period and they led 3-0 going into the third period, where they tacked on three more goals.

Noah Bawek had 32 saves for Austin, which had 19 shots on goal.
