James Bloom, 75

James “Jim” Bloom, 75, died on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Arbor Terrace in Rochester, Minnesota.

Jim was born on March 1, 1941, to Joe and Rose Bloom. He grew up and attended school in Rose Creek, Minnesota. On June 15, 1963, he married Joann Hathaway. They made their home in Grand Meadow and together raised two sons. Jim owned and operated Bloom Trucking in Grand Meadow for many years. Following that, he drove for Ferguson Trucking. Driving truck was his passion as was racing, which he did for many years as well.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joann of Rochester; two sons, James, Jr (JJ) of Rochester and Jerry (Sarah) of Rochester. There is nothing more that Jim took pride in than his four grandchildren, Tony (Mary Byler and her daughter Preslie),  Hannah (Travis) Trefz, Elizabeth and Mariah. He is also survived by two brothers, Darrell (Karen) Bloom and Donny (Jean) Bloom; and two sisters, Pat (Marvin) Miner and Joan Hegge.  Jim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brother-in-laws.

Per Jim’s request, there will be no funeral. A visitation is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 at Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow.
